    Vision and Mission

    Our Mission

    Students will make at least one year's growth to meet grade-level standards.

    They will:

    • Explore their world through the eyes of a scientist to emphasize the basic and critical skills of reading, writing, math and science;
    • Represent their own beliefs inviting views or opinions from other members of the group while looking after one another; and
    • Persevere in solving challenging problems even in the face of adversity.

    School Improvement Plan

    Rainier Elementary has many School Improvement Plan (SIP) goals related to the District Improvement Plan (DIP) Goals.

    DIP Goal 1: Prepare all students for college and career readiness by increasing academic achievement and closing the gaps in achievement and college readiness.

    Rainier SIP Goals:

    • By June 2020, Rainier Elementary School will increase their overall ELA SBA proficiency percentage from 76% to 81%.
    • By June 2020, Rainier Elementary will increase their overall Math SBA proficiency percentage from 68% to 78%.

    DIP Goal 2: Rainier Elementary will hold once per trimester opportunities for parents to come to Rainier to meet directly with the principal, counselor, and/or dean to engage in conversations and increase two-way communication.

    DIP Goal 3: By June 2020, 100% Rainier Elementary School classrooms will implement at least 30 minutes of Social Emotional Tier I instruction per week in alignment with the building SEL plan.

    Rainier Goal Focus: Implement a social-emotional universal screener to support the MTSS framework at Rainier. Engage staff in professional development around social-emotional learning standards.

    School Improvement Plan

    Goal #1: Academic - By May of 2023 85% of Rainier K-5 students will achieve at least one year's growth in reading as measured by the Student Growth Percentile (SGP) of 40 or higher on the STAR Reading Growth Report.

    Goal #2: Family Engagement - By June of 2023 Rainier will establish volunteer opportunities and expand the number of volunteers in our building from September of 2022 through June of 2023.

    Goal #3: Social Emotional - By implementing CLEAR kids, SEL time, 2nd step curriculum, our Tier I pyramid of school-wide interventions and our tier II MTSS intervention students' our Center for Educational Effectiveness Social Emotional Learning perception data from 2021-22 will increase in the positive percentages in our four lowest categories by June 2023.

    School Improvement Plan

    Academic Goal 1 - Based on STAR student growth percentile data, the median Student Growth Percentile of students at Rainier in all grade levels will increase to 55% or higher on the spring 2024 STAR data.

    Family Engagement Goal 2 - Based on the spring 2023 CEE data, families surveyed believe that students do not have early intervention and additional help at this school. By May of 2024 our data will increase from 66% positive to 76% positive.

    Social Emotional Goal 3 - Based on CEE data, students' perception of being to each other will grow from 21% "almost always" true to 31% "almost always" true from spring of 2023 to spring of 2024.
