Current career/job:
Corporate Communications Specialist at Boeing
Describe the path you took from high school graduation to where you are today:
I received the Washington State Achievers Scholarship as a junior at Clover Park High School and used it to attend Pacific Lutheran University. As a college student, I took advantage of study abroad opportunities and several editorial internships before graduating and taking a job as a newspaper reporter in eastern Washington. I spent several years honing my writing and reporting skills at several small newspapers across the state. I left journalism in 2013, went back to school for my Masters degree, and began working in corporate communications at the Boeing Company.
How did your experiences in Clover Park School District help prepare you for this path?
I took advantage of Clover Park High School's advanced placement English and writing courses. I participated in student government and sports, which helped sharpen my leadership skills. I also made connections with teachers, who served as my mentors and helped me navigate college acceptance processes.
Who was the most influential teacher or administrator to you as a student in the district? Why?
Travis Campbell (student government) was a valued mentor and role model. Michelle Sundholm (AP English) was a fantastic friend and advisor.
