Our Mission

Students will make at least one year's growth to meet grade-level standards.

They will:

• Explore their world through the eyes of a scientist to emphasize the basic and critical skills of reading, writing, math and science;
• Represent their own beliefs inviting views or opinions from other members of the group while looking after one another; and
• Persevere in solving challenging problems even in the face of adversity.

Parent and Community Involvement

Parent and community engagement is key to student success. All parents, family and community members are invited to be involved in our school. We offer a variety of ways for interested individuals to support our students. Some examples include joining our parent organization, volunteer tutoring, chaperoning field trips, serving as a site council member and helping with school special events. School Improvement Plan

Rainier Elementary has many School Improvement Plan (SIP) goals related to the District Improvement Plan (DIP) Goals.

DIP Goal 1: Prepare all students for college and career readiness by increasing academic achievement and closing the gaps in achievement and college readiness.

Rainier SIP Goals:

• By June 2019, Rainier Elementary School will increase their overall ELA SBA proficiency percentage from 68% to 75%.
• By June 2019, Rainier Elementary will increase their overall Math SBA proficiency percentage from 59% to 70%.

DIP Goal 2: Increase engagement and communication with families to ensure equitable inclusion of all subgroups.

Rainier Goal Focus: Develop family centered events to engage families in their students’ academics. Maximize technology to seamlessly communicate important information with families.

DIP Goal 3: Create a culture of supportive learning environment for students and staff.

Rainier Goal Focus: Implement a social-emotional universal screener to support the MTSS framework at Rainier. Engage staff in professional development around social-emotional learning standards.

Facility Use

Our school is used throughout the school year during non-school hours by parents, community organizations and recreation groups. A facility use application is required for use of our facility and can be obtained by calling 253-583-7354. The general condition of our school is rated as excellent per the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction scoring guidelines.
