Impact Aid Surveys Now Electronic, Due Oct. 28
Posted on 10/04/2022

The 2022-23 federally required Impact Aid annual surveys will be sent to families electronically this year on Tuesday, Oct. 4, with a link to the survey for each student. These confidential surveys are an annual federal requirement and must be completed by Friday, Oct. 28.

Impact Aid funding, just like local levy funds, helps to provide important funding for teachers, support staff, classroom computers, library books and other supplies and equipment to CPSD.

To request a form in a language other than English or Spanish, please email Teri Hebert at [email protected].

FAQ

1. About Impact Aid

Section 7003 grants help educate federally connected children. These may be children of members of the uniformed services, children who live on Indian lands, children who live on federal property or federally subsidized low-rent housing, and children whose parent(s) work on federal property.

As a military community, Clover Park schools receive annual Impact Aid grants from the Federal Department of Education, which contribute to enriching the educational opportunities of all our students. The amount we receive is based on how many of our school-aged population have parents that work or live on federal properties such as Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) or the VA Hospital at American Lake. Over 3,500 Clover Park students fall in one or both of these categories.

2. Survey Format

This year the confidential Impact Aid survey will be conducted electronically. An email will be sent to you for each of your students containing a link to a survey form.

Survey questions in red boxes require an answer. Answers to follow-up questions in section 2 and 3 are boxed in yellow:

All parents/guardians should review your address and answer the question in section 1.
Active duty service personnel should answer all questions in section 2.
Civilians employed on federal property should answer all questions in section 3.
All parents should sign and submit the survey for each child.

Each survey should take less than three minutes

3. Do I have to fill this out for each one of my students?

Yes. Our current system is unable to duplicate responses and each student is required to have their own form. Parent/guardian information can vary by student.

4. Why am I filling this out again? Didn't I complete this during enrollment?

The information gathered during enrollment was for state funding. Federally-funded grants have different requirements.

5. How can school districts use Impact Aid?

School districts use Impact Aid for a wide variety of expenses, including the salaries of teachers and teacher aides; purchasing textbooks, computers and other equipment; tutoring; advanced placement classes; and special enrichment programs. Most Impact Aid funds are considered general aid to the recipient school districts and may be used in the manner they designate, in accordance with state and local requirements.
