Local community leaders and elected officials recently toured the district’s newest school, Gravelly Lake K-12 Academy (GLA). Principal Venetia Willis-Holbrook presented information about the school before participants boarded a school bus to the GLA campus.
GLA opened its doors this school year and serves nearly 500 students participating in a collection of district programs, including the district’s Virtual K-12 Academy, Open Doors Youth Reengagement Program, workforce transition program and more.
The tour included question and answer sessions with GLA students and staff along with a peek into GLA classrooms, giving them a deeper view at alternative learning in CPSD.
“We are proud to feature the important work happening at Gravelly Lake K-12 Academy to meet the unique learning needs of our students,” said CPSD Superintendent Ron Banner. “CPSD’s alternative learning programs give students options that work for them to thrive academically and graduate career and college ready.”
