Describe the path you took from high school graduation to where you are today:

After graduating in 1972, I was a stay-at-home mom and raised my two sons. I started working for Clover Park School District in 1984. I worked at both Lakeview Hope Academy and Harrison Prep. I worked as a paraeducator in a self-contained classroom, a health paraeducator and a secretary.

How did your experiences in Clover Park School District help prepare you for this path?

The people I worked with believe that anyone can do anything if they set their minds to it.

Who was the most influential teacher or administrator to you as a student in the district? Why?

Walter Ball was my most influential teacher. Being a shy student, he made me feel as if I was important. He always looked you in the eye when talking to you.

Do you have any favorite memories from when you attended school in Clover Park School District?

I loved Mr. Smith's art class. Artasia - Lakes' annual celebration of the arts - was my favorite time of year.

What opportunities exist in your career sector for new graduates? Is postsecondary education required for this field?

I feel no matter what field you are interested in, further education is going to help you get where you want to go.
