About the Department
A student who is College and Career Ready is prepared to succeed in his or her endeavors after high school. The Clover Park School District's College and Career Readiness Department strives to ensure that each student is prepared for that success through career and college guidance, Career and Technical Education courses, dual college credits, career pathway choices, and real-world experiences through extended learning opportunities.
Mission
The College and Career Readiness Department, featuring Career and Technical Education programs, helps students build their capacity to develop as life-long learners. Engaging, inquiry-based course sequences in a variety of pathways allow students to become critical thinkers and problems solvers for the careers of today and tomorrow.
Vision
College and Career Readiness prepares all students for careers, postsecondary education, and citizenship through educational programs that instill 21st century skills in collaboration with industry and community leaders.
Make a Difference: CTE Advisory Committees
Career and Technical Education (CTE) advisory committees advise, assist and provide support and advocacy for quality CTE Programs. Advisory committee volunteers have the opportunity to learn more about the CTE program, and the instructors are able to increase their understanding of the job market, employers' needs and community opportunities.
- Provide information to update, modify, expand, and improve the quality of programs
- Support and strengthen the partnerships between business, labor, the community, and education
- Make recommendations that will strengthen and expand the CTE curriculum, and provide assistance in implementing these recommendations
- Identify and validate academic and occupational competencies, determining priorities, and review and evaluate programs
- Communicate long-term goals and objectives of the CTE programs to students, parents, employers, and the community
What is the Time Commitment?
General advisory committees meet 2-4 times per year for 1-2 hours each time during the school year.
