Month of the Military Child

April is the Month of the Military Child
Posted on 04/12/2023
April is the Month of the Military Child. Nearly a third of CPSD students are military connected. We are proud to work with our dedicated Joint Base Lewis-McChord partners to provide our students with the resources they need to thrive and receive a world-class education.

Taking Care of Our Military Children

Each year, the Department of Defense and Military Community and Family Policy acknowledges the important role military children have in supporting the military service of their family members, and the unique challenges they face.

This year, their theme is “Taking Care of Our Military Children.”

To elevate the authentic voices of military children, they would like to feature unique stories through photos, art, poetry, blogs and more:

  • Picture: Share images of you, family members and friends celebrating Purple Up! day.
  • Quote: Provide a short blurb about what it is like to be a military-connected child.
  • Blog: Share your experience as a military-connected child. Topics can include but are not limited to recent PCS or loss of a service member.
  • Art: Submit a painting, drawing or poem depicting your experience being a member of the military community.

If a military child you know is interested in submitting photos, artwork, blogs or other contributions, please direct them to submit their work to [email protected].

Submissions are accepted throughout the month of April.

This month, be sure to Purple Up! by wearing purple in support of military connected students and families.
