COVID-19 Isolation
It is important to keep your student home to recover for at
least 5 full days. It is highly encouraged and recommended that you follow the guidance below:
It is also strongly recommended that your
student wears a well-fitting and high-quality mask or respirator for at least 5 additional days (day 6
through day 10) after the end of their 5-day isolation period.
If your student has not had any symptoms, they
should isolate for at least 5 days after they tested positive for COVID-19. Your student
can leave isolation after 5 full days if they have not developed any symptoms. If your student
develops symptoms after testing positive, their 5-day
isolation should start over.
If your student tests positive after day 5 (day 6-10), they
are likely still contagious and should continue to
isolate and wear a mask and wait 24-48 hours to test
again.
If your student tests negative on two sequential tests each
performed 24-48 hours apart, they can end isolation and stop wearing a mask before day
10.
At-home tests are available from your school to test
your student before returning to school.

What is an Exposure Notification?
Exposure notification is the communication of a potential exposure by email, phone call, or other method. This notice may come based on contact tracing or more generally because a person was in an area (e.g., on a team or in a classroom) with someone who tests positive for COVID-19.
Exposure notifications will only go out in an event of an outbreak in a classroom or school setting. Exposure notifications may also be received in the case of an outbreak for extracurricular activities or group activities (teams, clubs, etc.).
To protect their school or childcare community, students, children and staff, regardless of vaccination status, who are potentially exposed to COVID-19 should:
- Monitor for symptoms, AND
- Test as soon as possible after exposure and then repeat testing every 24-48 hours through at least the first 5 days after exposure AND
- Strongly consider wearing a well-fitting mask for 10 days after exposure
Exposed students, children, and staff may continue to take part in all in-person instruction and care, including sports, performing arts, and other extracurricular activities, as long as they do not have symptoms or test positive. Individuals who have been recently infected (within the past 90 days), should use an antigen test, as PCR results may remain persistently positive even if there is not a new, active infection.
