Alyssa Anderson Pearson, President, District 3, Term Expires 2025

CPSD School Board Director Alyssa Anderson Pearson Alyssa Anderson Pearson was elected to the board in November 2017 and re-elected for a second term in 2021. A lifelong Lakewood resident, she currently works as the Contracts and Procurement Administrator for the Washington Military Department and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and an MBA from Northern Arizona University. Alyssa has been married to her husband Ryan since 2014, and they have two children. As a board member, Alyssa works to build stronger community partnerships and increase district transparency. She believes supporting each child’s needs, both academically and emotionally, is a top priority to help them succeed.

Bryan Thomas, Vice President, District 2, Term Expires 2027

CPSD School Board Director Bryan ThomasBryan Thomas was elected to the board in November 2023. He grew up in Lakewood, attending CPSD schools and graduating from Clover Park High School. Both of his daughters also graduated from Clover Park Schools and his sister, Lisa Boyd, served as a long-time principal in the district. Bryan currently works at the chief human resources and administrative officer for O Bee Credit Union and earned a bachelor’s degree in human resources and a master’s degree in human resources and organizational management. Bryan has a history of service to the Lakewood community, including time on the board of directors for Communities in Schools in Lakewood, the Lakewood Public Safety Advisory Committee and the Lakewood Civil Service Commission.

Krissy Kim, District 1, Term Expires 2027

CPSD School Board Director Krissy KimKrissy Kim was elected to the board in November 2023. She has lived with her husband in Lakewood for more than 15 years and all three of her children attended CPSD schools. Krissy currently works as an administrator at Capital Region Educational Service District and earned a bachelor’s degree in human development from Pacific Oaks College, a master’s degree in science of instruction from Drexel University and a Doctor of Education from Northeastern University. As a board member, Krissy wants to ensure each child and family feels safe and valued in their schools and sees themselves reflected in curriculum and staff as they learn and grow.

David Anderson, Director, District 4, Term Expires 2025

CPSD School Board Director David AndersonDavid Anderson was elected to the board in November 2021. He has lived in Lakewood for more than 60 years and graduated from Lakes High School in 1968. He attended the University of Washington and received a certificate of divinity from Northwest Baptist Seminary in 1987. He is the owner and past operator (retired) of Bill’s Boathouse, a fishing marina on American Lake, and a retired pastor. David currently serves as president of the Tillicum Woodbrook Neighborhood Association and has volunteered with Good News Clubs, Communities In Schools of Lakewood and other causes in the Tillicum and Woodbrook neighborhoods. He was married for 50 years and has four children and 10 grandchildren. His four loves (other than his wife and extended family) are reading, writing, rowing and research.

CPSD School Board Director Janet CaldwellJanet Caldwell was elected to the board in November 2023. She is a product of CPSD schools and graduated from Lakes High School. She has lived in the CPSD community for more than 40 years where both of her children attended Mann Middle School before also graduating from Lakes. Janet currently works as an employee in the Bethel School District where she supports certificated staff as the Bethel Education Association President. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Washington State University and a master’s degree in educational technology from City University. She is also a National Board Certified teacher in early and middle literacy.

Ron Banner, Superintendent and Secretary to the Board of Directors

photo of superintendent ron banner smilingRon Banner has dedicated his life to being a man of character, a good husband to his wife of more than 25 years and a father to his three wonderful children. He has devoted his career to supporting the education and advancement of our community’s youth.

Throughout his nearly 30 years in the field of public education, Ron has served as a high school P.E teacher (eight years), a middle school assistant principal (three years), an elementary school principal (one year), a middle school principal (eight years), an assistant superintendent of elementary schools (three years), deputy superintendent (one year) and is now in his fifth year serving as Superintendent in Clover Park School District.

Equity, inclusion and educational justice have been critical to Ron’s professional career. He describes his current season as “legacy living,” as he works with diverse stakeholders, students as primary constituents and staff throughout the district to remove barriers and empower marginalized voices.
