April is Month of the Military Child (MOMC), and we are celebrating the military children at CPSD. We serve students on and off Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), and nearly one-third of our students are military connected. We are proud of our partnership with JBLM and other local organizations that are dedicated to providing our military students with the resources they need to thrive and receive a world-class education.
2024 Theme
Each year, the Department of Defense and Military Community and Family Policy acknowledges the important role military children have in supporting the military service of their family members, and the unique challenges they face.
This year, their theme is “Military Youth and Children: Brave, Fearless and Resilient."
Student Voice Contest
If your military child would like to share their voice, they can enter the Young Lives, Big Stories contest. This contest gives Army-connected children and youth ages three through 18 the chance to tell their story about what it means to be a military child through drawings and written or audio/video submissions. This annual contest runs during April and contestants can win great prizes.
Peer-to Peer Connection
On April 26 and 27, military students have the opportunity to connect with one another across the world in Operation Megaphone. Please contact your local Youth Center for more information.
Purple Up! on April 15
National Purple Up! Day is April 15. We encourage our community to wear purple to celebrate military children and honor the sacrifices they make as their parents and relatives serve.
