There are still writing workshops during all lunches in room P213.  In order to attend these you must first get a pass from the GEAR UP office in the Career Center.  GEAR UP’s after school writing lab will now be located in the Library on Mondays.  Come in to get help from College students on you papers either after school or during lunches.

Gear Up is sponsoring tutoring in the library on Monday-Thursday from 2:30-4:00. There is an activity bus available.

Goals & Services

Our goal is to help Lakes students transition from high school to college and the world of work.  We will help you find a career direction, post secondary or college education, and scholarships or grants to help you finance your education.  Please visit us in the career center for more information.

The career center is located just off the main hallway in the Success building across from the gym and next to the administration entrance. It offers a computer lab, scholarship information, and all the forms and guidance needed to navigate through the Lancer Link advisory program and the culminating project for seniors.

The purpose of the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is to support early college preparation and awareness activities in order to increase the number of disadvantaged students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education.

This discretionary federally funded six year grant program is designed to:

* Work with students beginning in the middle schools to support early college preparation and awareness through various academic, career and culturally woven events and activities

* Serve an entire cohort of students and follow them as they move through high school

* Provide wrap around services to the students through a network of support comprised of colleges, schools, parents, businesses, and the community to empower student success in college
