Tillicum Elementary students benefit from Skanska donations
Last month, Skanska construction workers and sub-contractors, working on the new Evergreen Elementary School on Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), began a back to school supply drive for students at Tillicum Elementary. On Sept. 16, Skanska representatives delivered donated supplies and money amounting to $4,800 to Tillicum Elementary students.
“The donations came from men working on site, which speaks volumes as to how dedicated they are to their projects and what they are doing for students,” said David Carver, Skanska project manager for the new Evergreen Elementary School.
“This is pretty impressive,” said Tillicum Elementary School principal Jeff Miller. “We’re not used to this size of a donation.”
Skanska project superintendent John Amdal explained that Skanska has a culture of philanthropy and employees give back to the communities in which they work and live.
Student representatives presented Skanska workers with cards of thanks, Tillicum Elementary t-shirts and lots of applause and smiles.
In appreciation of their generous donation of school supplies and cash, Tillicum Elementary School principal Jeff Miller presented Skanska workers with new Tillicum Elementary School t-shirts at a recent school assembly. Skanska construction workers and sub-contractors participated in a back to school supply drive, which netted nearly $4,800 in donations.
