Seven Clover Park Schools Named 2016 Schools of Distinction

Clover Park School District (CPSD) is celebrating seven district schools that received 2016 School of Distinction Awards. Tyee Park, Lake Louise, Carter Lake and Evergreen Elementary Schools, Mann and Woodbrook Middle Schools and Harrison Preparatory School were among 94 Washington schools to receive this designation from the Center for Educational Effectiveness (CEE) and their partner organizations.

The annual award recognizes schools that have made significant, sustained improvements in student achievement over a five-year period, with achievement being measured by English language arts and math assessment scores at the elementary and middle school levels and by graduation rates at the high school level.

This is the second, consecutive School of Distinction Award for Evergreen, Carter Lake, Mann, Woodbrook and Harrison Prep.

“I am immensely proud of the students and staff who earned this achievement,” said CPSD Superintendent Debbie LeBeau. “Our staff and students have been working diligently over many years to improve test scores, ensure every student is on track to graduate and, most importantly, deepen and expand student learning. Lakewood voters aided in this accomplishment by passing a levy which helped pay for instructional materials and professional development designed to help students struggling with math and reading.”

LeBeau added that the district also analyzes data from previous student assessments and uses it to pursue continued academic growth at every grade level.

Schools will be recognized in a special celebration later this month.
