Employees of the Year selected for Clover Park School District

Three Clover Park School District (CPSD) employees were honored as Employees of the Year at a districtwide celebration on May 9. Since 1987, CPSD has honored exemplary employees in three categories: certificated, classified and administrative. Award recipients are chosen by an independent panel of Lakewood citizens.

2016 CPSD Employees of the Year are:

  • Susan Keller, RN, Certificated Employee of the Year;
  • Kathy Warczak, Classified Employee of the Year; and
  • Holly Shaffer, Administrative Employee of the Year.

Susan Keller, RN, Nursing Department Coordinator, Student Services Center
Susan truly believes a healthy student is a better, more productive student. Using her nursing expertise, community contacts and Clover Park School District values, she is a champion for students in the district. She works tirelessly to make sure the students she works with have glasses, dental care, medical care or housing. She has recruited volunteers and facilitated vision and hearing screenings at schools. Susan is an advocate for students’ physical, mental and emotional well-being.

Kathy Warczak, paraeducator, Lake Louise Elementary School
Kathy is the brains, hands and heart behind every community involvement event Lake Louise offers. Without her thoughtful planning and flawless execution, these extracurricular events would not happen and Lake Louise would not be what it is today. She is a strong presence in the classroom as well. She instructs several small reading groups across all grade levels. She works with struggling readers to support their comprehension, fluency and accuracy. Her dedication to her students’ success is reflected in the amount of time she takes to carefully consider each student’s specific needs.

Holly Shaffer, Director of Student Services, Student Services Center
Holly brings compassion, professionalism and resourcefulness to her job as she helps students and families navigate through challenges such as homelessness, discipline, behavior, attendance and health issues. Her mission is to find the best outcome for each student, regardless of the time and effort it takes to get it done. Holly understands our diverse community and goes above and beyond to support our families. She understands that everyone has a story and does her best to listen to these stories as she works with families. She is a true advocate for them.
