Phase 1 work began on June 9 with demolition of the playground area for construction of the new covered play shed. Footings for the covered play shed are poured and steel erection has started. The covered play area is on schedule to be complete in late August. Three additional portable classrooms have been brought in and set in place. Work continues to connect the building sections and install the stairs and access ramps to the portables. Demolition for the new building addition has begun and will continue into early July. The mechanical and electrical systems in the existing school are being prepared for expansion into the new addition.

Groundbreaking nears for the construction and renovation project at Lakeview Hope Academy that will add nine classrooms, two restrooms and a detached covered play area. The project will be completed in two phases.

Phase 1 consists of the partial demolition of existing classrooms necessary to accommodate the new addition; preparation of existing mechanical and electrical systems in the building for the new addition; and construction of the new covered play area. Phase 1 begins as soon as school lets out on June 9 and is scheduled to be complete in late
August 2015.

Phase 2 is the completion of the new addition which will begin in late August and continue until mid-March 2016. Until construction is complete, the school will utilize some existing classrooms in the nearby Boys and Girls Club and early learning facilities as well as additional temporary portable classrooms. The portables will be removed over the summer of 2016 after the 2015-16 school year. Funding for the project comes from savings achieved from the 2010 voter-approved, school construction project for Hudtloff Middle School, which was completed in September 2013. The additional classrooms are needed due to significant student growth in the northeastern area of Lakewood and the addition of full day kindergarten in several elementary schools across the district.
