Graduation Requirements

Strong academic standards prepare students for success in the 21st century.

Parents, educators, and business and community leaders all have embraced the reality that today’s students must have stronger basic skills in reading, writing, mathematics and science. Students must be able to think and apply their learning in much broader ways than ever before to lead productive, successful lives as adults.

As a response to these challenges, in 2008 the Clover Park School District adopted new high school graduation requirements.

In order to graduate from high school and earn a diploma, students must complete all Clover Park School District requirements and all Washington state requirements. Those requirements include:

In addition to earning the Certificate of Academic Achievement, students must be able to complete an educational High School and Beyond Plan. Students must outline how they plan to meet their high school graduation requirements and how they will spend their first year out of high school. Creating a plan will help students start thinking about their futures and focus on the courses they need to best prepare them for their career interests, no matter what direction they plan to take.

Senior Culminating Project

In the student’s senior year, the required culminating project has students develop a portfolio; engage in community service; write either an autobiographical reflection and position paper or a reflection and a scholarly paper; and make a final, public presentation.
