Student, Parent and Community Involvement
Mann students are challenged to set high goals and work to the best of their ability to achieve them. We expect, encourage and support students to be active learners in the classroom and around our school campus. Mann staff is eager to help all students be successful.
We believe everyone in our school community deserves to be respected in an environment that is physically, emotionally and intellectually safe. To achieve a safe and respectful environment, it is essential that each student take responsibility for their actions. We encourage students to always demonstrate great personal character in support of the school community.
We encourage our students to get involved in school. When students are active in school programs they grow personally and contribute to a stronger learning community.
Family involvement is important to our students and staff. We have family-centered activities throughout the school year. These include movie, game, reading and math events that focus on family fun and learning.
Mann has an active Parent Teacher Student Association and we are thankful for the contributions and support they give to our students. Parents support our students through site council membership, at dances, field trips, family night events and in the cafeteria selling popcorn every Friday.
Our site council, composed of staff, parents, students and community members has worked together to make Mann a great school for learning. Our school focus is to prepare all students to be academically and emotionally ready for high school. Our work to accomplish this mission includes:
- We cultivate a culture of academic excellence through a focus on strong instruction and student accountability.
We support student learning through math and reading LAP interventions, after school reading and math intervention and enrichment programs, and content curriculum that promotes good learning outcomes for students.
- We believe strong personal character supports students making good choices academically and socially.
We support our students though service leadership opportunities and active student mentors for our 6th grade students and programs that support student emotional growth.
Mann partners with, and we are thankful for, our Joint Base Lewis-McChord soldiers who support our students as speakers, as mentors for students at our science board workshop event and as judges at our annual science fair.
School Improvement Plan
- 2017 Goal for math and reading: All students will be prepared to transition to the next grade level and be successful.
- 85% of our students will meet or exceed grade level standards.
Mann’s school and field facilities are used daily during the school year by our physical education classes, our athletic and performing arts programs. Community organizations and recreation groups use our athletic facilities throughout the year for football, baseball and basketball games.
