District Technology Plan

This Technology Plan outlines Clover Park School District's visions and goals through 2010.

Vision of educational technology

The vision for educational technology in the Clover Park School District is to provide a wide variety of learning opportunities to reinforce the vision that all children can learn. Technology is an integral part of these opportunities and all members of our teaching and learning community must be prepared to better communicate, integrate, collaborate, problem solve, learn and explore through their creative selves with this technology.

Integrating technology into the classroom

Technology integration into the curriculum follows certain strategies at each of the school sites in the Clover Park School District, but each school is reponsible for implementing technology in their own way. Each school is required to have a technology integration plan which indicates the types of software on which the school will train their teachers, and the curricular areas, lessons and units targeted for technology integration. Workshops are offered to district teachers year-round to teach them how to integrate particular technologies into their curriculum. Courses include training on the software available for integration into student assignments as part of the curriculum.

The software available to every employee includes Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Exchange and PowerPoint as well as the Internet. Teachers are encouraged to use these tools in lesson assignments in Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Math. More and more of the finished student work involving technology products created as a result of filling an assignment are being posted on individual building websites.

Acceptable Usage Standard

CPSD Acceptable Usage Policy - This policy outlines the acceptable uses of technology in Clover Park School District.

E-Rate and the Clover Park School District

Clover Park School District has received E-Rate reimbursement funds for several of the schools in the district. E-Rate, also known as the Universal Service Fund, was established 4 years ago as a means of reimbursing school districts and libraries for the costs of implementing technology. It allows those school and library sites which had a certain percentage of free and reduced lunch counts in their student populations to receive a reimbursement of part of the funds paid out for the installation of technology. The kinds of services eligible for refund are the costs of wiring a building and phone service to a building. Certain schools can apply for E-Rate funds after they are wired for the network. We will continue to apply for E-Rate funds when the criteria for receiving them is met by whatever school site is being worked on.
